Premium 150-175cm Beech hedging in 4L pots
5-6ft Beech (Fagus Sylvatica) | 150-175cm (4L)
Our 5-6ft beech plants are perfect for use as hedging plants. Native to the UK, beech plants offer wavy green leaves in the spring that fade gradually into summer before turning copper or brown towards the autumn. Beech are considered semi-evergreen plants as if you prune in August, you’ll find that the leaves last most of the winter.
These beech plants will produce a dense hedge when planted at a rate of 3-5 per metre. They love well-drained soil and are tolerant of most harsh weather conditions, but you may notice more leaf drop in constant extreme low temperatures. Hard prune in February if your beech hedge starts to become overgrown.
Beech can reach 5 metres (16ft) at maturity, growing at a rate of 30-60cm per year. With these plants, you’ll have a privacy screen in no time. It’s best to plant in the autumn when the soil is moist and the plants are dormant so the roots can establish over winter.
